Who we are, what we do with data, and the terms you buy a report under
Legit or Leg It is a trading name of Maltings Digital LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17253787). We operate the website legitorlegit.co.uk and provide used car due diligence reports to private buyers.
For the purposes of data protection law, Maltings Digital LTD is the data controller of the personal data described in this policy. ICO registration number: ZC167794.
We operate a serverless infrastructure using Cloudflare Workers. Data is processed in memory during your request and is not written to any persistent storage by us. When your request is complete, the data is gone.
We do not store reports. Reports are generated on demand, displayed in your browser, and not retained by us. It is your responsibility to save or print your report if you wish to keep a copy.
We rely on the following lawful bases, documented in our Legitimate Interests Assessment, a copy of which is held in our compliance records:
We do not use your data for marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond delivering the service you paid for. We do not rely on consent for any processing described here.

Our reports include information about the businesses and trading entities selling vehicles. This information comes from public sources — primarily Companies House, the official UK register of companies, and publicly accessible review platforms.
We report this information at company level. Reports comment on trading entities, not on individuals, and individual names do not appear in report output.
If you are a seller and believe a report has presented public information about your business inaccurately, contact us at hello@legitorlegit.co.uk and we will investigate. Because reports are generated from live public data at the time of each check and are not stored by us, corrections to the underlying public record (for example at Companies House) will be reflected automatically in any future check.
We do not sell data. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes. The following services receive data only to the extent necessary to run your check:
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold. Given that we collect minimal personal data and do not store reports, in most cases we will hold nothing beyond a transaction record in Stripe.
To exercise your rights, contact us at hello@legitorlegit.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
We use only essential cookies required to operate the payment process. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
This summary highlights the terms we most want you to understand. It is not a substitute for reading the full terms below.
Legit or Leg It is a trading name of Maltings Digital LTD, registered in England and Wales (company number 17253787), registered office 82A James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Suffolk IP28 7DE ("we", "us", "our"). By using our service you agree to these terms.
You can verify our registration at Companies House — we'd encourage it. Checking that paperwork matches the register is exactly what we tell our customers to do.
We provide due diligence reports on used car listings and sellers. A paid report draws on the following sources:
A report contains two kinds of content, and tells you which is which:
Findings are factual data points retrieved from the sources above, presented as received and attributed to their source.
Verdicts and assessments are our honest opinion, formed from the findings stated in the report and shown alongside them. They assess the transaction — whether your statutory rights as a buyer would be straightforward to exercise, whether the data holds together, whether the price is fair — and they exist to inform your decision, not to make it for you.
Reports comment on trading entities at company level. They do not make statements about individuals.
Our reports are not:
You may use the service only:
You may not:
A report is personal to the purchaser. You may save, print, and share it with people directly involved in your purchase decision (for example a family member or your mechanic).
We monitor usage patterns and may suspend access where we reasonably believe these terms are being breached.
Reports are generated on demand and displayed in your browser immediately after payment. We do not store reports. It is your responsibility to save or print your report if you wish to keep a copy.
If your report fails to generate due to a technical error on our part, we will issue a full refund.
We provide our service with reasonable care and skill, as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. That duty is ours and we do not seek to exclude it.
The data in your report comes from third-party sources. We present it accurately and attribute it clearly, but we cannot guarantee that any third-party source is itself complete, current, or correct. Where a data point cannot be verified, your report says so explicitly and tells you what to do about it — we report the absence of evidence as exactly that, never as evidence of absence.
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded — including our duty under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to perform the service with reasonable care and skill.
Reports are purchased as a single report or in packs of three or five. Payment is processed by Stripe. Prices are as displayed at the point of purchase.
Cancellation. By purchasing a report you expressly consent to the report being generated and supplied immediately, and you acknowledge that you lose the 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 once generation has begun.
Refunds. If a report fails to generate due to a technical error on our part, we will issue a full refund. We do not offer refunds because you decide not to buy the vehicle, because the report contains findings you were not expecting, or because the verdict is "Leg It" — a report that warns you away from a risky transaction has performed exactly the service you purchased.
Report packs. A pack is redeemed in a single visit — you enter all your registrations together and receive all your reports at once. Packs cannot be split across separate purchases or held for later use.
If you have a query or complaint about your report or our service, contact us at hello@legitorlegit.co.uk.
If you are a seller and believe a report has presented public information about your business inaccurately, the same address reaches us. Reports are generated from live public data at the time of each check and are not stored by us; corrections to the underlying public record will be reflected in any future check automatically.
All report content, website content, and branding is the property of Maltings Digital LTD or its data suppliers. You may not reproduce, distribute, or resell our reports or the data within them except as permitted in section 4.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force at the time of your purchase is the version that applies to that purchase.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
